MEET CHEF JOSE RAMOS

Chef José Ramos, Nido, Nido's Backyard and Odin Mezcaleria Chef.

José Ramos is a talented chef from Celaya, Guanajuato. His journey in the culinary world was driven by his curiosity and tenacity, evident from a young age when he would assist his mother in the kitchen.

After migrating to Texas, Chef José worked in several restaurants to gain experience and hone his skills, becoming a dedicated student of his craft. During this time, he experimented with different flavors that led to defining his sazón. José later moved to San Francisco, where he started working in popular restaurants as a cook (Bix and Nopa). Then, he worked as a Chef in Nopalito, Sabrosa, and in 2013 the original NIDO. 


José’s food is inspired by his connection to the earth and the seasons and in his food he tries to portray seasonality and freshness - like making every salsa from scratch, using the freshest ingredients and creating a menu that is both nutritious and elevated.

Chef José joined Chef Silvia McCollow in crafting recipes for NIDO, and during 10 years, they made a collection of the finest Mexican cuisine that represented their shared heritage,  all with a Bay area twist.

We are happy to have worked with Chef José for the past decade and can’t wait for this next chapter: Odin.
